Inspired by the work and writing of American Composer, conductor and Tufts University professor, TJ Anderson. Andersons Thomas Jefferson Minstrels was a commentary of blackface minstrel performance at the expense of black agency. Almanac seeks to explore the central questions: “What is the true price of cultural and artistic agency for the Black American Artist?” and “How can we define ‘Black Art’?” Told through the experience of three main characters, Almanac is a vibrant, electrifying, and eclectic score that travels through hip-hop, soul and R&B to big band and folk. Almanac provides an opportunity to dissect and make sense of the past, while simultaneously looking forward to a reimagined future.

Harrison Clark
Harrison J. Clark is a writer, composer, and lyricist who has dedicated his artistry to the celebration, preservation, and advancement of Black artistry. The Seattle native has written and arranged a variety of instrumentations including drumline, jazz big band, string quartet, and choir. Harrison is also a passionate historian with many of his projects originating from archival research.
